The Green Backyard is run almost entirely by volunteers from all over Peterborough. If you have an interest in growing food, the environment or just enjoy being outdoors then why not consider joining us? No experience is necessary and we will give you all the support you need to make a difference, as well as some seasonal vegetables to take home for your efforts. Either contact us for more details or just come along to one of our volunteer workdays.
These sessions run every Wednesday and Sunday from 11.00 – 16.00 and are open to anyone who would like to find out more about the project, volunteer their time and learn new skills. Please wear suitable clothing for working outdoors and bring something to drink with you, under 16’s must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Please note: unfortunately these sessions are not yet suitable for wheelchair users.
As of January 18th 2013 the jobs we kindly request help for are:
The volunteers, young and old, who give their time for The Green Backyard are the ones who keep us going, and they are not only responsible for the all important gardening. We receive support from architects, administrators, builders, beekeepers, designers, photographers and scientists, so if you have a skill that you think could help the project, or would just like to get into green activities and make a difference in your area then please contact us.
