The Green Backyard have announced their 2016 learning programme, Crafts & Conversations, which is funded through the Peterborough Community Learning Trust and supported by the City College.
The Green Backyard have, over the last 6 years, delivered hundreds of sessions on arts, crafts, gardening and confidence building to over 1,000 people from Peterborough and beyond. and are set to deliver more classes and workshops than ever in 2016. Highlights this year include a garden design masterclass with RHS Gold winning garden designer Jeni Cairns, willow weaving with GBY co-founder Renny Antonelli, poetry with the Peterborough Laureate, mosaics, painting mini canvases and vegan cookery. All the sessions are inspired by, and take place in, the beautiful and peaceful Green Backyard.
After listening to hundreds of volunteers and users The Green Backyard have programmed each strand with the emphasis on promoting lifelong learning and appealing to people of all levels and backgrounds, whist also promoting both physical and mental well-being for all participants.
Community Learning Coordinator at The Green Backyard, Keely Mills, said: “We’re really excited to be able to present such a broad programme of workshops. I’ve been inspired by The Green Backyard and can’t wait to see others inspired by this space too – be it writing poetry about the flowers that bloom here or cooking a pizza using the food that grows here.”
All sessions will take place between May and July and will be at The Green Backyard, which is next to the Apex building on Oundle Road. All participants must be 19+. Most of the sessions are free but booking is advisable as spaces are limited.
