The Big Draw is the world’s largest drawing festival with 280,000 people expected to participate worldwide. This year’s theme, It’s Our World, encourages everyone to explore their environment – rural, urban, or coastal – and to explore its sustainability.
On Saturday 1st November, we are teaming up with The Wildlife Trust BCN and Railworld Wildlife Haven to attempt something special, and we need your help to make it happen.
Our vision is to link Wildlife Trusts Woodston Ponds, The Wildlife Haven at Railworld and The Green Backyard with a continuous line of pictures created by the Peterborough community. This will be a symbol of The Wildlife Trusts Living Landscapes – joining up habitat for wildlife. We also want to celebrate Peterborough’s Environment Capital aspiration. There are over 4000 children in schools across Peterborough preparing artwork for the event, as well as many adults.
The event will be an ephemeral piece of theatre, and we hope to involve local media and press in drawing (excuse the pun) attention to a precious art, important local community projects, and a love for our environment.
How you can help on the day:
On top of hoping and praying for good weather, we need volunteers to create the ‘washing line’ physically connecting Wildlife Trusts Woodston Ponds, Railworld and The Green Backyard, pegging pictures along the whole span.
- Check your diary. Are you free Saturday 1st November 10am-12pm?
- Decide if you would you like to help make this crazy dream a reality.
- Meet 10am prompt on Saturday 1st November, at The Green Backyard.
If you would like to make art to be part of our huge The Big Draw challenge:
PPS Print have kindly donated a print-run of A5 postcards to us: one side has a picture of either The Green Backyard, Wildlife Trusts Woodston Ponds, or The Wildlife Haven at Railworld. The other side is blank, awaiting your masterpiece.
Postcards are available from the following venues and must be returned to one of the same venues by 30th October 2014:
The Green Backyard
The Wildlife Haven at Railworld
