Sophie was born in Peterborough and co-founded The Green Backyard in 2009. She spent 9 years managing the space and spearheaded a successful campaign to prevent the land being sold for development, winning a number of civic awards and local and national recognition in the process. 

She spent 8 years supporting other community gardens, city farms and care farms around the UK through her roles with national charity Social Farms & Gardens, and is now with Development Trusts Association Wales overseeing membership, outreach and communications.

Sophie moved to Bristol in 2020, and when not working she can usually be found rock climbing, hiking, running or watching live music.
